1. Be Ready for the Movers
When the movers arrive, they will be ready to wrap your furniture and move everything out of your home. If you’re not ready and still have a bunch of items to pack, the process will go slow, costing you more money. Make sure that before movers arrive, you’re fully ready for them.
2. Start Early
The earlier you start preparing for the move, the easier it will be. It will give you time for having a moving sale, time for packing, and time to get everything else in line before the big day. You know what they say, “early bird catches the worm”.
3. Keep Track of your Valuables
It’s very easy for small items to be misplaced during a move. Before anything happens, keep track of all your valuables and move them yourself. Consider using a safety deposit box during the months leading up to your move.

If you have a favorite moving company, make sure you book your move as early as you can. Depending on the time of year, sometimes movers’ schedules book up quickly and your desired move date may not be available.

This box or bag prevents you from accidentally packing important daily items like bathroom essentials, prescriptions, or a clean pair of clothes. Make sure you have a day bag to easily access these important items.
8. Keep Track of Passports and Important Documents
Also in your day bag, you should keep passports, plane tickets, or other important documents YOU need in your hands and not in the moving truck in a random box.
9. Communicate Well With Your Movers
The more you convey to your movers exactly what you want, the more they’ll be able to deliver in a timely fashion. Have a good idea where you want your furniture to be placed, so the movers aren’t double and triple handling items, costing you more time and money.
